TRUMP 2024, brought to you by the Democratic Party

In the ever-evolving drama of American politics, the recent legal scrutiny faced by former President Donald Trump has become a focal point. However, what might seem like a strategic move by his opponents could, in fact, be a double-edged sword that sharpens Trump’s political standing, solidifying his base and potentially propelling him right back into the Oval Office.

The fraud case against Trump in New York, with its recent $355 million ruling against him, has not only reignited the flames of his ardent supporters but has also become a rallying cry. Trump’s base perceives these legal challenges as politically motivated attacks, and the recent financial ruling adds another layer to the narrative of persecution.

Facing a substantial financial penalty without clear victims provides Trump with an opportunity to craft a narrative of victimhood. He can portray himself as the target of a relentless political vendetta, with the recent financial judgment being seen as excessive and punitive. This martyrdom narrative historically resonates with his base, casting him as a fighter against a corrupt system.

The financial scrutiny and legal battles may galvanize Republicans who see the attacks on Trump as an attack on their values. The judgment, coupled with the broader investigation into American entrepreneurs, creates a shared enemy that can unite disparate factions within the party. This unity could result in a formidable force in upcoming elections.

Efforts by Democrats to hold Trump accountable might inadvertently contribute to his resurgence. The ‘backfire effect,’ where attempts to discredit or diminish a figure only serve to strengthen its appeal, could intensify. Trump’s ability to leverage these financial challenges as proof of his anti-establishment stance may garner sympathy even from those who were previously on the fence.

Trump and other politicians like him can use the judgment against him as part of a broader scrutiny of wealthy business owners. This has far-reaching implications and potential for future political landscapes. The perception of business owners under siege may further consolidate support for Trump, particularly among those sympathetic to the challenges faced by people similarly situated, not to mention the fear other New York real estate developers must be feeling.  Let’s face it, most developers fib a little regarding valuation for financing as valuation is subjective and can be done in many ways.  Not to mention the fact that in Trump’s case all the loans were paid back and the banks that lent him the money testified that he made good on every penny.  So where is the fraud?  No one is really sure.

This is the quintessential issue that the Democratic-fueled onslaught of Trump shows.   Instead of letting voters decide an upcoming election on the merits of each candidate’s platforms American political agendas have adopted character assassination programs in a veiled effort to discredit Trump.  This has completely backfired and will go down in history as one of the worst strategic decisions ever made politically.

The legal and financial battles, as we previously predicted here at The Ribotsky Institute coincide with the ramp-up to the 2024 presidential election. A perceived persecution of Trump, coupled with the financial ruling and the broader scrutiny, will position him as the underdog, reviving memories of his 2016 campaign when he defied expectations.

For Democrats, the case against Trump presents a dilemma. While holding leaders accountable is a cornerstone of democracy, the unintended consequence is a stronger, more emboldened Trump. As the legal and financial proceedings progress further, Democrats would be wise to tread carefully to avoid inadvertently fueling the narrative that could lead to Trump’s political resurrection.

The legal and financial challenges against Donald Trump in New York, particularly the recent ruling will result in the opposite of what his detractors desire. Rather than weakening his political standing, these challenges will strengthen Trump’s narrative, fuel his base, and set the stage for a formidable landslide-like win in the 2024 election. The Democrats, in their pursuit of stopping a man they truly fear from becoming president, have inadvertently contributed to the resurgence of a political force they hoped to quell.  Yes, they have themselves to thank for Donald Trump winning the 2024 election.
