Political predictions often rely on a combination of experience, knowledge, and some speculation. But we are not here to predict but to observe the obvious. As we saw in 2016, when most said that Donald J. Trump would never win the election, often times predictions are just that, predictions. At the Ribotsky Institute, we believe that the Democrats think they are going to stop the unstoppable force called Donald Trump. But make no mistake, Donald Trump will dominate the 2024 election, and nothing can prevent it. In fact, he’ll achieve several major victories in 2024.
If Trump excels at anything, it is using the fact that good news spreads, but bad news spreads faster. By delivering his messages faster and with more conviction than his opponents, he delivers a message that resonates with over half the country. This is a simple fact that seems to be ignored. What the left also seems to forget is that this talent is what propelled Donald Trump into politics in the first place.
When Trump gets positive news he rallies his supporters, comparing his successes to monumental historical events or figures, like Winston Churchill during World War II or the moon landing. When the news is negative, he aggressively spins it into a tale of triumph, turning potential defeats into personal victories. If the Democrats were actually paying attention they would realize that Trump is somewhat predictable in his actions, win or lose.
This dynamic will soon be evident in Trump’s New York criminal trial, which is now in the hands of the jury. Whether he is acquitted or convicted, it will be a victory for Donald Trump.
An acquittal would allow Trump to claim complete vindication, dismissing all accusations, indictments, and pending cases. If this case is flawed, then logically, all must be flawed, right? Since it seems that this case is a ridiculous witch hunt that was launched for political reasons, it may also be true that the other cases against Trump were right? Remember this does not need to be actually true, it just needs to sound true enough. The same way the prosecution of these claims does not really need to be true they just need to convince everyone at home that it is true enough.
Conversely, a conviction would reinforce Trump’s claims of a biased judicial system. He would argue that the judge was compromised, the jury biased, and the verdict predetermined by a politically motivated prosecution fueled by the left. Which would not really be incorrect now would it.
Even a prison sentence could be framed as a victory, bolstering his narrative of a corrupt system. Just as Martha Stewart’s prison stint enhanced her image, Trump’s time behind bars would do the same for him. What everyone misses about Trump, is he actually says it as it is. While other politicians walk a fine line between reality and their version of it. Trump just states what he is thinking and believes and that is what his base loves about him.
Trump’s second assured win will come in November. While the exact outcome of the election cannot be predicted, the size and breadth of those backing Trump and his momentum almost ensure he will claim a significant victory. Winning the election would galvanize his base and give them validation that the last election was rigged and Trump was robbed of victory.
Think this is all crazy or far-fetched? Well, consider why for the first time in history a former President of the United States is standing trial over something that does not amount to much. Is this the first president in history to pay a woman to keep quiet? Just ask Bill Clinton about that. You know the president that did not have “sex” with that woman. As well if this all not a hoax then why are there prosecutors in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office who just before this case were part of the Biden Justice Department? Coincidence? We think not.
If Trump loses the election, it might seem like a defeat to those in the cheap seats. However, for Trump, it would still be a victory. He would use the loss to bolster his claims that the electoral process is rigged, the institutions are failing, and the system is against him and his supporters.
All in all, Trump’s persona and philosophy is built on never admitting defeat. Even when he appears to lose, he frames it as a win. So, regardless of the trial’s outcome, know that Trump sees himself as already victorious.
What’s more, this all comes at no cost to Trump except for the legal fees he is paying, since the rest of the bill is being paid for by the taxpayers of the great state of New York as the former president is guaranteed daily media coverage for free.
Brilliant.
